The term fresh water refers to water with low salt content. This is because life on Earth has had to adapt different hydrologic conditions and therefore it affected most of our topography. The last ice age had so much glaciers and snowpacks. Now, little of the ice has left in parts of the Atlantic and Antarctic region. Glaciers are the huge storage of freshwater. That is why when you swim in a fresh water, you feel that your movement is slow and heavy compares to the ocean. Also, fresh water has a higher density compared to ocean.
