A wheel with a 26-inch radius is marked at two points on the rim. The distance between the marks along the wheel is found to be 20 inches. What is the angle (to the nearest tenth of a degree) between the radii to the two marks?

Answer:

1/4 radians or 14.32 degrees

Explanation:

Since any point on the circumference of a circle is an equal distance from the center, therefore, the radiuses are equal distances from the two points--both measure 24 inches.

We now have enough information to deploy the formula

s

=

θ

×

r

, where s is the arc length (6 inches in this case),

θ

is the center angle in radians and

r

is the radius.

Therefore, we have that:

6=24×θ

6/24 = 0

0= 1/4 or 14.32

hopefully this helps:)
