Jim is making a pennant in the shape of a triangle for his senior class photo. He wants the base length of the triangle to be 8 inches. The area of the pennant must be at most 36 square inches.(Jim doesn’t want to buy more materials) Write in a quality that describes the possible Heights (in inches) of the triangle.Use h for the height of the triangular pennant.

From the the data and information given in the question, we are asked to write an inequaity that desribes the possible Height (in inches of the triangle.

So, given:

Jim is making a pennant in the shape of a triangle for his senior class photo.

Base of triangle = 8 in

Area of triangle ≤ 36 in²

Let height of the triangle be h

recall that the area of triangle:

Area of triangle = 1/2 * base * height

1/2 * 8 * h ≤ 36

4h ≤ 36

divide both sides by 4

h ≤ 36/4

h ≤ 9 inches.

Therefore, the height of the triangle must be at most or ≤ 9 inches.
