The Civil War began due to a disagreement between the north (the Union) and the south (the Confederacy). The Union was primarily made up of abolitionists--people who disagreed and wanted to end slavery. However, a majority of the south's income relied on slave labor.
A primary reason for the Civil War was due to these disagreements on slavery.
