He bought 4 books
Steps:
3.95(3) + 8.95b = 47.65
11.85 + 8.95b = 47.65
Now just subtract 11.85 from both sides and now the equaton shoud look like this
8.95b = 35.8
Now divide 8.95 from both sides and you get...
b=4
