8x - 2(x - 5) = x + 25

Simplify.

8x - 2x + 10 = x + 25

Simplify.

6x + 10 = x + 25

Subtract x from both sides.

6x + 10 - x = 25

Simplify.

5x + 10 = 25

Subtract 10 from both sides.

5x = 25 - 10

Simplify.

5x = 15

Divide both sides by 5.

x = 15/5

Simplify.

x = 3

TO SHOW WORK SIMPLY PLUG IN 3 FOR X IN THE GIVEN EQUATION :)

8x - 2(x - 5) = x + 25

8(3) - 2{(3) - 5} = (3) + 25

Simplify.

24 - 2(-2) = 28

Simplify.

24 + 4 = 28

28 = 28

Therefore x = 3

~Hope I helped!~

{Also, sorry for my earlier answer :)}
