Neil took his family of five out to dinner at HogTastic Pit BBQ. They all ordered the buffet and drink at $12.80 each. Neil left a 15% gratuity for the waitress on the after-tax bill. Based on a tax rate of 7.5%, Neil ended up paying a total of $

for dinner.

5 people......12.80 per person....5 * 12.80 = 64
Neil didn't leave the tip till after taxes were added...so lets add the tax
7.5% tax....64 + 0.075(64) = 64 + 4.80(tax) = 68.80
now the tip (gratuity)....15%...
68.80 + 0.15(68.80) = 68.80 + 10.32(tip) = 79.12 <== total bill
