Let's simplify the square root first.

Square root of 9 = 3 and square root of 4 = 2. Hence, the expression above can also be written as:


3+(5*2)

Solve the one in the parenthesis first then add.


\begin{gathered} =3+10 \\ =13 \end{gathered}

Hence, the sum is 13. The result is rational because it can be written as the ratio of two integers and its decimal expansion does terminate or repeat.
