How did corn cultivation help develop large civilizations in Central and South America?

Since there are no answer choices. Here is my best answer :)


It gave the civilizations plenty of food because corn was easy to grow and plentiful. It could've been used for trade and currency. The abundance of corn helped the civilizations grow and develop.

Before cultivation era, civilizations were mostly hunter-gatherers or nomads. (Travelling from place to place.) Cultivation allowed the tribes to settle down to form a civilization.
