Assume two numbers are n and n+2

Then n+ n+2 = 346 -> 2n = 344 -> n= 172

So the smaller one is 172, another one is 174

Answer:

Smallest number = 172

Explanation:

Two consecutive even integers have a sum of 346.

Let x be the smallest number.

We have other number = x + 2

We also have

x + x + 2 = 346

2x + 2 = 346

2 x = 344

x = 172

Smallest number = 172, Other number = 172 + 2 = 174

Smallest number = 172
