So any point in the dark purple area is a solution to the given equation because it is true for both purple functions, leaving the overlapping area to be darker. You can think about it like a Venn Diagram, but on a coordinate plane. The two areas agree on a certain amount of things, and on a coordinate plane, its a set of points.
