2x+7=12x-6 subtract 12x from both sides
-10x+7=-6 subtract 7 from both sides
-10x=-13 divide both sides by -10
x=13/10
x=1.3

Let's start by writing the problem:
Subtract 7 from both sides.
Subtact 12x from both sides.
Divide both sides by -10.
