7/x=8/y, so that 7*y=8*x, and y = 8*x/7, now you can substitute x = 14/3, and get y= 16/3

Use the same proportion to find y that you use to find x.
6/4 = 8/y
Cross multiply
6y = 8*4
6y = 32
divide both sides by 6
y = 32/6 = 16/3
