3/4x + 3 - 2x = -1/4 + 1/2x + 5 ...multiply everything by 4 to get rid of fractions
3x + 12 - 8x = - 1 + 2x + 20...simplify
-5x + 12 = 2x + 19
-5x - 2x = 19 - 12
-7x = 7
x = -7/7
x = -1

Answer:

-1

Explanation:

3/4x + 3-2x = -1/4 + 1/2x +5 (combine alike terms)

-5/4x+3 = 19/4+1/2x

(subtract 1/2x from -5/4x and 1/2x)

-7/4x+3 = 19/4

(subtract 3 from itself and 19/4)

-7/4 = 7/4

(times -4/7 to both sides)

-1
