A cell phone company orders 300 new phones from a manufacturer. If the probability of a phone being defective is 3.5%, predict how many of the phones are likely to be defective. Round to the nearest whole number.

The events are independent, that is, the fact that a phone is defective does not have to do with the rest of the phones. Therefore, the answer is 300 * 3.5% = 10.5. So, round down, 10, because there are no fractional phones. I said too simple, because for complicated

11 is the answer they are looking for because it is 300x3.5% which is 300x.035 bring 10.5 but 10 is not an option do they round it up to 11.
