Public lands are areas of land set aside by the federal or state government for different types of purposes. The government regulates and protects these lands from illegal use. Public land can be used for grazing, tress cultivation, extraction of minerals, preservation of wildlife, preservation of fish population, preservation of watersheds, maintenance of historical sites, etc.
