5x + 3 = 33

Our goal is to isolate 5x and then simplify.

5x isn't currently isolated, due to +3.

Perform the opposite order of operations.

Subtract 3 from both sides.

5x = 30

Now, we must simplify (solve for x).

X is being multiplied by 5, so we need to perform the opposite order of operations in order to solve for x.

Divide both sides by 5.

You are left with:

X = 6.

I hope this helps!
