I would say the one that is just dropped from the cliff because the cannon would be heavy so the force of gravity would pull it down quickly white something shot in the air would fall down faster but the one that is dropped would hit first. Also would depend on how strong or what type of force the machine has but in general it would def be the cannon that is plain dropped . Also the one shot in the air would get more air time resulting in a slower drop . Hope this helps in a way (:
