Amniocentesis may be preferred over chorionic villus sampling (cvs) for karyotyping because cvs takes much longer to obtain a karyotype. cvs is a more invasive procedure. a larger amount of tissue may be obtained through amniocentesis. amniocentesis can be performed more quickly than cvs. amniocentesis has a lower risk of miscarriage than cvs.

Amniocentesis may be preferred over chorionic villus sampling[ CVS] for karyotyping because AMNIOCENTESIS HAS A LOWER RISK OF MISCARRIAGE THAN CVS. Both amniocentesis and CVS are tests used to analyse fetal cells in order to determine if the fetus has chromosomal defects. Each of the test has their own advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantage of amniocentesis is that the miscarriage rate associated with it is lower than that of the CVS.
