Mooring buoy

A mooring buoy is a special type of buoy which is heavier than a standard buoy thanks to a weight that it is anchored to. This buoy is meant for the tying of boats to it in deep ocean regions. Other types of buoys are not built or meant to withstand the weight of boats being tied to them, such as regulatory buoys, which makes tying boats to them illegal.
