How does inertia affect a person who is not wearing a seatbelt during a collision

They fly forward or they keep going in the same direction that the collision was going in.

Inertia causes a person to continue in a state of motion when the car jolts to a stop. Rule of inertia: An object and rest will stay at rest or an object in motion will stay in motion, unless acted upon a force.

The seatbelt is that force which stops the body from being in a state of motion.
