How do I solve 6/13=3/c

To solve an equation, one must get the variable they are solving for on one side of the equation and everything else on the opposite side.

On the right hand side of the equation, the fraction
(3)/(c) has a variable in the denominator. We can get the rid of the c variable by multiplying each side by c.


(6)/(13) * c = (3)/(c) * c

(6c)/(13) = 3

Now get rid of the denominator on the left hand side of the equation by multiplying both sides by 13.


(6c)/(13) * 13 = 3 * 13
6c = 39

To get the variable c all by itself, we need to divide both sides of the equation by some number that will result in a coefficient of 1.

Divide both sides by 6.

6c / 6 = 39 / 6
c = 6.5

So, c is equal to 6.5.
