A line passes through the point (0, –1) and has a slope of -2/3. What is the equation of the line?

y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

We have the slope of -2/3, so put that instead of m:

y = -2/3x + b

The y-intercept is at (0, -1), so put -1 for b.

y = -2/3 - 1
