Britain and France place the new US in the middle of their conflict in that they pressured the United States to take sides.

During the 1600s and 1700s, Great Britain established colonies in the American territory as well as France did. The French established its colonies in the 1600s in what today is the Canadian territory. France wanted the many natural resources of the region to produce furs and sugar, among other goods. They also established forts and trade post in the Louisiana territory that in that time comprised modern-day Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, South Dakota, Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming. The British had its original 13 colonies in the Northeastern coast of America, what today in Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, The Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia, Delaware, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. During the many conflicts between the two European superpowers, Britain and France placed the new US in the middle of their conflict in that they pressured the United States to take sides
