Shay's Rebellion was an uprising caused by Daniel Shay. Shay represented numerous Massachusetts farmers who were upset over not getting paid for their service in the American Revolution. Along with this, Shay was upset with the taxes being implemented by the state government. Shay organized a rebellion in which farmers rioted and become violent in Massachusetts.

This showed the weakness of the central government because the central government could not raise an army to put down this rebellion. The lack of power of the central government to organize an army showed that the Articles of Confederation needed to be changed.
