Let's w be the number of hours Rachel worked as a waitress this month. Then, the total of hours combined (108) can be represented by:

t + w = 108

So, if, we subtract t from both sides of this equation, we obtain an expression for w in terms of t:

t + w - t = 108 - t

w = 108 - t

Now, since she earns $10 for each hour as a tutor, the amount in dollars she earned as a tutor this month is:

10 * t = 10t

And, since she earns $8 for each hour as a waitress, the amount in dollars she earned as a waitress this month is:

8 * w = 8 * (108 - t) = 8 * 108 - 8t = 864 - 8t

Therefore, the total dollar amount she earned this month is the sum of these two quantities:

10t + 864 - 8t = 2t + 864

Thus, the expression is

2t + 864
