Now suppose you have 300 eggs, but only 70% of those eggs progress to become a caterpillar, and only 80% of the caterpillar progress to become an adult butterfly. how many butterflies do you have?

70% = 70/100 = 0,7
80% = 80/100 = 0,8

300 * 0,7 = 210 [caterpillars]
210 * 0.8 = 168 [butterflies ]

Answer:

You have 168 butterflies

Explanation:

Total no. of eggs = 300

Only 70% of those eggs progress to become a caterpillar

No. of caterpillar =
70\% * 300

No. of caterpillar =
(70)/(100) * 300

No. of caterpillar =
210

Only 80% of the caterpillar progress to become an adult butterfly

No. of butterfly =
80\% * 210

No. of butterfly =
(80)/(100) * 210

No. of butterfly =
168

Hence you have 168 butterflies
