At 8:00 a.m. The outside temperature was -15 degree F . At 11:00 a.m. The temperature was 0 degree F. If the temperature continues to rise at the same uniform rate what will the temperature be at 5:00 p.m on the same day?

Well we see that it went up 15 degrees in 3 hours.
To figure out how many degrees in one hour: 15/3=5, it goes up 5 degrees in an hour.
Then you need to figure out how many hours from 11 to 5: 5-11=6.
Multiply how many degrees an hour by how many hours: 5•6=30.
Add 30 to the old temp: 0+30=30.
At 5:00 the temperature will be 30 degrees F. :)
