Explanation:

We need to write the terms by descending degree:

Distribute -2 and don't worry about the exponents yet.


-2x(-5x) + -2x(4x) = 10x - 8x

Now ADD the exponents.


10x^(2+2) - 8x^(2+3) = 10x^(4) - 8x^(5)

Last, put the polynomials in order from the greatest exponent to the least.
