the difference between the two quantities= 5200 - 3140
= 2060
the original quantity = 5200
% decrease in quantity = (decrease in quantity / original quantity x 100) %
= 2060/ 5200 x 100
= 5%
ans ) the % decrease is by 5%

(5200 - 3140) / 5200.......* 100
2060 / 5200......* 100
0.396 * 100 =
39.6% rounds to 40% <===
