The answer to this question is “vertical velocity”. In a given projectile, there are two velocity components: the vertical and the horizontal. Horizontal velocity is constant with respect to range and height. However, the vertical velocity is highly dependent on the height and the range of the trajectory. At its peak, the vertical velocity even reaches zero.
