Your school plans to buy hamburgers for the school fun day. It will cost $270 for each student to have a hamburger. Each hamburger costs about $3. Your school only has $124 in the cash fund. Using the inequality 2003-06-01-00-00_files/i0260000.jpg, find how much money the school will need in order for each student to have a hamburger.

If this is the inequality:
124 + x ≥ 270

1) deduct 124 from both sides
124 + x - 124
270 - 124
x
≥ 146

x can be 146 and below because the inequality sign states x is less than or equal to 146.

The school needs an additional maximum amount of 146 in order for each student to have a hamburger.
