Why don't populations of organisms that reproduce asexually have the same genetic variation as populations that reproduce sexually?

Asexual reproduction uses mitosis but not meiosis.

Organisms reproducing asexually only undergo meiosis.

Gamete formation does not include crossing over events in meiosis.

Consistent arrangement of chromosomes in metaphase I reduces genetic variability.
