Let's x be the Sammi's weight and y Buster's weight.

Then, as Buster and Sammi together weigh 112 pounds, then:

x+y=120\text{ Equation (1)}

Also, Sammi weighs 8 pounds more than Buster, then:

x=y+8\text{ Equation (2)}

Now, replace equation (2) into equation (1) and solve for y:

\begin{gathered} y+8+y=120 \\ 2y+8=120 \\ 2y=120-8 \\ 2y=112 \\ y=(112)/(2) \\ y=56 \end{gathered}

And replace the y-value into equation 2 to find x:

x=56+8=64

As x=64 and y=56, therefor Sammi weighs 64 pounds and Buster weighs 56 pounds.
