Answer:

Salutary was the unofficial and unwritten policy of the British Government from 1600s to mid 1700s which allowed the North American colonies to be left on their own without any British interference. The colonies were not enforced with trade regulations and the imperial supervision of internal colonial affairs was also kept loose as long as the colonies remained loyal to the economic success of the British Government. This policy helped the colonialists in increase their profits from the trade. The British tried to reverse this policy in 1775 to raise money for paying their debt incurred during the French and Indian Wars. They imposed new taxes, this tax angered the colonialists and led to the Boston tea party, the American Revolution and the Declaration of independence.
