Can someone please work through this one question so I know what to do for the other 9? How the testing system works for me is that they give me the test without properations. So, I'm at a loss here.

Scientific notation is the way that scientists easily handle very large numbers or very small numbers. Scientific notation is written by writting a decimal number between 1 and 10 together with an exponent of 10.

Given

(4.23*10^(12))/(9.0*10^6)

First, using distributive property of numbers, seperate the decimal numbers and the exponents of 10, we have

(4.23/9.0)*(10^(12)/10^6)=0.47*10^(12-6)=0.47*10^6

Because, scientific notation requires that the decimal number part be a number between 1 and 10, we move the decimal point 1 place foward and subtract 1 from the exponent of 10.

Therefore,
(4.23*10^(12))/(9.0*10^6)
in standard notation is

4.7*10^5
