According to the map, the second largest sphere of influence in China is Britain, the largest one being Russia. Britain's sphere of influence was located to the west of Shanghai, in Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan. Also, there was some influence in the south-eastern part of China, next to Japan's sphere of influence. One can observe that Shanghai was influenced by Britain, this was a strategic location because it was located in the Yellow sea and close to the Sea of Japan. Having a port in China was key for trading goods.
