suppose line earned $x, the husband earned $(x+1500)
therefore;
x+(x+1500)=37500
solving for x we get
x+x+1500=37500
2x+1500=37500
2x=36000
x=36000/2
x=$18000
Therefore lien was earning $18000 and the husband was earning 18000+1500=$19500

Last year lien earned $1500 more than her husband. Together they earned $37,500. How much did each of them earn?
