\bf \cfrac{2x-1}{x^2-7x+3}\qquad \begin{cases} 2x^1\impliedby \textit{degree of 1}\\ x^2\impliedby \textit{degree of 2} \end{cases}

if the degree of the denominator is greater than that of the numerator's, the rational has no horizontal asymptote.
