The answer I found was 3.5. y=7/2. I'm really sorry it took me so long to find. I'm a middle school student, and although I am honors, I haven't run into this

\bf \cfrac{7x+1}{2x-9}\qquad \begin{cases} 7x^1\impliedby \textit{has a degree of 1}\\ 2x^1\impliedby \textit{also had degree of 1} \end{cases} \\\\\\ \textit{horizontal asymptote occurs at }y = \cfrac{7}{2}

if the degree of the numerator is the same degree as that of the denominator, then the horizontal asymptote is the rational from the leading term's coefficient.
