If a friend were thinking about putting money in a CD instead of a savings account, which trade-off best describes his choices?

Well the same reason why my sister doesn't have a car yet

So im basically saying that if you friend keeps on spending money on stuff like CD players and doesn't save up money for a car or anything but then again he/she can get that money my having a job and work on saving up for a car and gas ect.
