The Office of Price Administration (OPA) was established by the US goverment with the enactment of the Executive Order 8875 in 1941, as part of the Office for Emergency Management. Its main duty was to control money, to exercise price controls, after the start of WWII in Europe (by that time the US was not directly participating in the conflict yet).
