(x-3)²+2(x-3)-8=0
x²-6x+9+2x-6-8=0
x²-4x-5=0
∆=b²-4ac=(4)²-4(-5)(1)=16+20=36
x₁,₂=-b±√∆/2a=4±6/2
x₁=4-6/2=-2/2=-1
x₂=4+6/2=10/2=5

Therefore the solutions are
x=-1 and x=5
