Which is an independent clause?

A. Giving downtown a wide berth, I drove down many side streets.
B. If I could give you the most precious gift of any living creature.
C. Walking down the street, and around the corner, to the market.
D. When I wandered in off the street to the bakery to get some treats.

Basically, an independent clause is a complete sentence. A dependent clause is NOT a sentence, it's a fragment..
So the only answer is A. Giving downtown a wide berth, I drove down many side street :)
I used to have a lot of trouble with independent and dependent clauses XD
Now I understand them a lot better.
