Tim wants to model a doll house from a real house that measures 80 feet in length by 32 feet in width. He decides to use a scale in which ¼ inch equals 1 foot. What will the dimensions of his model be?

1/4":1' = 1/4" : 1'= 1:48
So the dimensions of the model are
L=80'/48=960"/48=20"
W=32'/48=384/48=8"

Answer: Length = 20 inches

Width = 8 inches

Explanation:

By Tim's scale, 1 foot equals 1/4 inch

Dimensions of his model doll house would be:

Width = (32 feet/ 1 foot) x (¼ inch)

Width = 32/4 = 8 inches

Length = (80 feet/1 foot) x (¼ inch)

Length = 80/4 = 20 inches
