Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka was a case which took place on May 17, 1954. In this case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously (9–0) that racial segregation in public schools violated the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. According to the prohibition in the Fourteenth Amendment to the constitution, the states mustn´t deny equal protection of the laws to any person within their within their jurisdictions.
