Which technique is Salim most clearly using in the following discussion? SALIM: That's not the interpretation I came up with. Charles is kind of imprisoned by his truck because he has to work delivering produce all day. How did you see it as a symbol of freedom? BEKAH: Well, he was happy when he got the job. While he knew that the job wasn't for him, he took it because it offered possibilities. The author says "the whole world opened up to him when the truck's engine growled to life." That suggests that the truck wasn't a prison to him. A. Asking clarifying questions B. Synthesizing claims C. Involving all members in the discussion D. Returning to the text

The correct answer is A. He is asking clarifying questions. Salim and Bekah had different views and opinions about the text. Salim doesn't get the point on Bekah's view so he wants Bekah to clarify things for him. This is clear when he asked "How do you see it as a symbol of freedom?".

I believe the correct answer is A. asking clarifying questions.
Salim had one interpretation of the text, and Bekah had another one, which is quite the opposite from Salim thinks. This is why he asked her the question "How did you see it as a symbol of freedom," because he wants her to clarify her analysis further.
