Which piece of writing is the best example of postmodern fiction?

A. A novel in which the novel itself is a main character.

Postmodern fiction was developed around the post-World War II period, and was known for its use of innovative narrative techniques. Some of the characteristics often present in postmodern fiction are:

  • Space and time conventions not present.
  • Non-linear storytelling.
  • Differs from literary genres.
  • Open to interpretation.
  • Ambiguous endings and structure developments.
  • Use of narrative devices such as: unreliable narrator, fragmentation, or in the case of Sentence A, metafiction, which is acknowledging the fact the novel being read is a novel, or that the novel itself is a character.
