Step 1: Substitute -2 in for x in the equation.
** Remember the f(x) is y, not x
f(x) = -2 - 7
Step 2: Solve the math problem that you are left with.
f(x) = -9
__________________________________________________________
f(x) = -9 is your final.

x = -2
