A landscaper charges $30 for each job plus an additional $20 for each hour worked. Write an expression to represent the total cost of a landscape job. Explain what the variable used in the expression represents. Explain how you identified the operations used in the expression.

Answer: T= 30 + 20h

T= total cost of landscape job

h= how many hours the landscaper takes to complete the work

You have a starting cost of $30 for each job, which is where the 30 in the equation comes from, plus you have to add on the time it takes him which is $20 per hour so that is h.

Ex: Let's say it took the landscaper 6 hours to complete the work. You simply substitute 6 in for h

T= 30 + 20(6)

T= 30 + 120

T= 150

So the total cost, if it took the landscaper 6 hours, would be $150
